A Closer Look at Michael Barbaric's Recycled Wood Art: Techniques and Materials

In this blog post, we take a closer look at the techniques and materials used by wood artist, Michael Barbaric, in his recycled wood art.

One of the things that sets Barbaric's work apart is his use of recycled materials. "I love the idea of giving new life to materials that would otherwise be discarded or left to rot," he told us. "Using recycled materials not only helps to reduce waste, but it also adds an extra layer of meaning and significance to my art."

So where does Barbaric source his materials? "I find materials in all sorts of places – from construction sites and woodpiles, to thrift stores and garage sales," he said. "I'm always on the lookout for interesting pieces of wood and other materials that have character and texture."

Once he has gathered his materials, Barbaric begins the process of preparing them for use in his art. "I start by cleaning and sanding the wood to remove any dirt or rough edges," he said. "Then I'll often apply a finish or treatment to bring out the natural colors and grain of the wood."

After the materials are prepared, Barbaric uses a variety of tools and techniques to shape and finish the pieces. "I use hand tools like chisels and carving knives, as well as power tools like sanders and drills," he said. "I also use a variety of stains and finishes to add depth and character to the wood."

Overall, Barbaric's recycled wood art is a testament to his creativity and resourcefulness. By using materials that would otherwise be discarded, he is able to create beautiful and meaningful art that carries a message of sustainability and environmental consciousness.
